One tenth of the greenhouse wall

The ten doors Bill purchased and hauled home from Second Use will be used to make all the walls of the greenhouse. Each door is 32x96 and double paned. The door is located where the greenhouse will be and faces south.

Conceptual Drawings

Last Thursday 5/20 Brad brought several conceptual drawings for us to see. Three of the rough drawings were very appealing. A fan shaped house with a large attached greenhouse and open kitchen/living space. We talked about a green/living roof and a small separate guest room. Bill and I both love the idea of open wooden trusses and the use of metal for structure. Open ceiling, open space flexible for living and project use. Total integration of passive solar, and total integration with our land and vegetable garden, orchard, and perennial beds. We are in agreement that the small home size approx. 600 sq. ft  is very livable and very energy efficient saving materials both in construction and later in maintenance and heating. Using recycled as much as possible we are already looking for used materials.
